American Dad!, is an American animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series centers on an eccentric motley crew that is the Smith family and their three housemates: Father, husband, and breadwinner Stan Smith; his better half housewife, Francine Smith; their college-aged daughter, Hayley Smith; and their high-school-aged son, Steve Smith. Outside of the Smith family are their two rather unconventional neighbors. The series also focuses on Stan's boss Avery Bullock (voiced by Patrick Stewart) and his atypical family as well.

In an interview in the New York Daily News, Seth MacFarlane claimed that the finale of season three would be the last production episode of American Dad!; however, TBS later opted to pick up the series and it continued as a mid-season replacement on January 27, 2008.

The season continued to focus on the surreal life of the Smith family and their three housemates: Father, husband, and breadwinner Stan Smith; his better half housewife, Francine Smith; their college-aged daughter, Hayley Smith; and their high school-aged son, Steve Smith. Outside of the Smith family, the show continues to follow other characters. These characters include the family's three housemates that are also main characters - alien Roger (who has no surname), German goldfish Klaus Heissler (formerly known as Klaus Heisler), and intern turned professional CIA agent (as of "Rapture's Delight") Barry Dylan (named after Bob Dylan).

The first half of season 3 features one of the show's most critically acclaimed episodes, the Emmy-nominated "Bush Comes to Dinner", which satirizes a range of topics from the George W. Bush presidency. The episode was nominated for an Emmy for Animated Program (For Programming Less Than One Hour).
